Marie Rose Guiraud is an Ivorian choreographer and dancer , born on September 10 , 1944 in Kouibly 1 and died on MondayApril 20 , 2020in Abidjan at the age of 76 at the Farah polyclinic in Marcory around 8 pm .
Rose Marie Guiraud,began her artistic career at the age of 4 in her native village located in the region of Man , in the west of Côte d'Ivoire. She becomes a traditional and spiritual singer and dancer. In 1963, when she was 19, she interrupted her secondary studies to embark on an active life. She worked successively as secretary at the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire and then at Camp Galiéni in Abidjan . His artistic talent was recognized by the French during the revolt. In 1966, she left for France where she undertook nursing training, for which she obtained a certificate. She then went to Belgium , to the Royal Conservatory , where she obtained higher diplomas in dramatic art , rhythmic dance and French diction. She completed her studies in 1972 with training at the Paris School of Musical Comedy and at the American Modern and Contemporary Dance School.
At the end of her studies, she returned to Côte d'Ivoire to become the director of the department of dances, arts and African traditions of INSAAC ( National Higher Institute of Arts and Cultural Action ) where she exercises also the profession of traditional dance teacher. In 1974, she created Les Guirivoires , her own dance company. In 1975, she got involved in the creation of the Ivorian dance group called Ballet National with Condé Mamadou.
She is the founder of several social and charitable institutions in Africa and the United States and has experience in the education of children from difficult backgrounds, with the aim of helping them to strengthen their talent, their sense of responsibility until their social reintegration .
Invited in 1977 as a cultural ambassador by the American State Department , she leads workshops and shows off African dances and gives conferences in more than 30 States in the USA. She has been decorated several times by different countries and institutions. In Côte d'Ivoire, she has the rank of Commander of the National Order.
After a long period spent outside her country of origin, Marie-Rose Guiraud returned to Côte d'Ivoire in 2013 to form EDEC, a training school for young talents in dance and African music that she manages with her husband.
She died on April 20, 2020 in Abidjan.
